It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Kevin Parker, a cherished member of our community, who left us on Wednesday night at 6:18 pm, surrounded by his loving family. Kevin’s passing has left a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Kevin was a native of Campbellton, and no matter where life led him, his roots in this place never wavered. For over 35 years, I had the honor of calling Kevin a friend, and in that time, I came to know him as a person of unwavering loyalty, quiet generosity, and steady strength. His presence was a constant source of support, and his friendship was a gift that many, myself included, were fortunate to receive.
Throughout his life, Kevin gave of himself selflessly, particularly in his involvement with minor soccer. As a dedicated member of the Celtics, he devoted countless hours to helping young athletes not just grow in their skills, but as individuals. He believed in the power of commitment, in showing up, and in providing a place where children could belong. The many lives he touched, week after week, are a testament to his enduring dedication.
Kevin’s passion for sports extended beyond soccer. He was a devoted Detroit Red Wings fan, and his loyalty to the team was evident in the pride with which he wore that allegiance. He often reached out, whether to call or message me, after a Red Wings victory over my Bruins. For Kevin, sports were never just a pastime; they were an opportunity to connect, to share in the joy of victory, and to bond with others.
Above all, Kevin was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend. These roles were the foundation of his life, and he embraced each with humility, care, and devotion. His work at the Avcell mill was something he took pride in, knowing that it supported the life he was building for his family.
Kevin found peace by the Restigouche River, where his cottage in Tide Head offered him solace and connection to nature. It was there, amidst the beauty of the river, that he felt most at peace, with his family, and in his truest self.
As we mourn Kevin’s loss, we also celebrate his life, the footprints he left on this world, and the impact he had on all of us. His kindness, work in the community, and the quiet moments shared by the river will continue to inspire and remind us of the man he was.
